Pearl of the Renaissance
Zamość was founded in 1580 by Chancellor Jan Zamoyski and designed by Italian architect Bernardo Morando as an “ideal city” based on Italian Renaissance theories.
The city’s perfectly preserved architecture, Renaissance town square, and historical significance earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 1992.
